When Is It Worth Doing Mediation or Alternative Dispute Resolution vs Full Litigation for Local Disputes

I’m in a bit of a situation with a neighbor over a shared driveway issue. Nothing huge, but it’s been dragging on for months. I’ve been told I could either go through mediation or take it to court, but I have no idea which route makes more sense for something like this. I’d rather not spend a fortune, but I also don’t want to waste time if mediation doesn’t actually solve anything. Has anyone been through something similar in Hope?

I’ve dealt with something like that when my family had a property line issue a few years back. We started with mediation and it worked out better than expected — saved us a ton compared to court. The key is finding a mediator who’s familiar with local property laws and knows how to keep things civil. I’d say it’s worth checking with Lawyers in Hope, BC, since some firms there offer both mediation and litigation services. That way you can get advice on what fits your case best.
